Certified Surgical Tech - Oral Surgery at OMSA / DFCS

We are currently looking to hire a full-time and experienced Certified Surgical Tech to join our team! 

Our Certified Surgical Technician is accountable for patient care as directed by the doctor during surgical procedures.  Cares for and maintains the surgical instruments used during these procedures at the hospital.  Surgical Technician’s must have exceptional communication and computer skills, have a positive attitude, be a team player, and have a great work ethic. You must be able to work in a fast-paced environment but still keep attention to detail.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

• Prior to surgery, set-up entire hospital operatory, pass instruments to the doctor during the surgical procedure, as needed 
• Cleans, sterilizes and maintains surgical instruments and equipment.  Keep current on sterilization practices and instrument reviews
• Prepares for the surgical case by having reviewed patient information and procedure to be performed.  Readies chart, x-rays, models, appliances, instruments, and equipment for the procedure
• Requires early hospital arrival to conduct pre-operative set-up
• Assist with office/clinic oral surgery and cosmetic duties as directed by doctor when not in hospital cases
• Assist chairside as an assistant when requested. Seats and preps patient, requires knowledge of surgical practices
• Insures that x-ray is available
• Assist with post op patient care as needed
• May assist in recovery by monitoring post-operatory conditions
• Coordinate with Surgery Desk to ensure proper equipment is ordered, along with ensuring placement of the surgery on schedule to ensure optimum flow and efficiency
• Document surgical services by charting in patient records
• Perform related duties as required including various administrative duties for both DFCS/OMSA as directed 
• Basic computer skills and high attention to detail skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients, doctors, and other employees

Education/Certification Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
• NBSTSA certification
• CPR Certification Non-Expired
• Graduate of an accredited First Assist program a plus
• At least one year of surgical technician experience (preferred) 
• Indiana Dental Radiographer License Non-Expired (preferred)
